Israel’s population hit 9,190,000, according to data published by the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) on Sunday, an increase of 171,000 since last year.
The data, published three days before Israel’s 72nd Independence Day, shows that 74 percent (6,806,000) of the country’s population are Jews, 21 percent (1,930,000) are Arabs, and the rest defined as “others.”
The country’s population has increased by 1.9 percent (171,000) since last year’s Independence Day, 180,000 babies were born during this period and Israel welcomed 32,000 new immigrants. The last year saw 44,000 deaths.
