Former President Jimmy Carter tells Big Think that even as the fight over Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell continues, he believes Americans are ready for their first toeivahnik president.
Carter says the response to the presidential campaigns of Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama have done a lot to melt the resistance to having someone living a toeivah lifestyle in the White House:
Step-by-step, we have realized that this issue of [toeivah] has the same adverse and progressive elements as when we dealt with the race issue 50 years ago, or 40 years ago. So I would say that the country is getting acclimated to a president who might be female, who might, obviously, now, be Black, and who might be as well a [toeivah] person.

toeivahnik?
Thats a new lashon! If you cant utter the word, why can u post the article at all??
OI ZOL ER SHOIN GEN IN DRED
The ‘Pi Haaton’ has spoken.
nah not yet but soon 15 years maybe
let him stick his idiotic head back into his peanut farm where it belongs…
maybe he’s right…
Then it’s time to leave the Golden Madina.
How can he equate a difference in race to toeivah?
the longer he lives the more of a jerk he exposes himself to be
Well we definitely arent ready for another Jimmy Carter with stagflation and an undermining of american democracy and power!
Jimmy is almost as good as getting media attention as some others.
I don’t understand. Haven’t we already had President’s that eat shellfish?
We have had Toivah Presidents involved in business fraud before. This isn’t new.
what is with the bigotry on this site? will this comment even be posted?
“who might, obviously, now, be Black, and who might be as well a [toeivah] person.”
hatzad hashaveh shebahen…..
How can Carter equate discrimination against someone because of skin color,
with being against the violation of Hashem’s Law forbidding the practice of the Toeivah?
Re 6 and making analogies: EVERYONE does. In the world at large many people feel that this is as big a form of bigotry as racism (even though the pres. isn’t in favor of legalizing marriage, but I digress). It’s a serious issue and one we need a vocabulary for.
Well, it seems to me that this revelation of character would indeed make Jimmy himself a toeivah.
America might be ready for a (the word that may not be pronounced) President, but is it ready for a “First Partner”?
#17 Excellent! 🙂
We’ve had 44 presidents. Statistically speaking at least a few of them must have been toeivah.
