Former President Donald Trump’s fired National Security Adviser John Bolton said during a televised interview that he “is prepared to get into the race” for president in 2024 to stop his former boss, Newsmax reports.

“I think to be a presidential candidate you can’t simply say I support the Constitution; you have to say I would oppose people who would undercut it,” Bolton told NBC News’ “Meet the Press” on Sunday. “We used to have a thing in the House of Representatives called the House Un-American Affairs Committee. I think when you challenge the Constitution itself the way Trump himself has done, that is un-American. I’m prepared to get in the race.”

Bolton, who served as one of Trump’s national security advisers from 2018-19 before being fired, was reacting to a Truth Social post by Trump calling out recent revelations about the competing social media platform Twitter allegedly working with President Joe Biden’s 2020 campaign, Democratic National Committee, and federal agencies to suppress the Hunter Biden laptop story prior to the 2020 election.

Bolton told NBC he would enter the race if no other GOP candidate denounced Trump for his comments. “I’d like to see Shermanesque statements from all the potential candidates,” Bolton said. “If I don’t see that, I’m going to seriously consider getting in.”

  1. This is just opportunism and looking to ride off the piles of money and honor that can be made of being an anti-Trump Republican. There is no way a guy like Bolton could threaten Trump’s chances at becoming president. He would increase it by splitting the anti-Trump vote. If like most people he doesn’t want Trump again he should help rally around a candidate with a better chance of defeating him

  2. He has as much chance of winning as “Biden”. Start with rallies. Will Bolton have more people than Biden who had about a dozen people?
