Israeli officials are reportedly considering asking US President Donald Trump for a commutation or pardon in favor of former spy Jonathan Pollard, who is currently on parole in the United States, Channel 13 reported on Friday.

Released from prison in 2015 after serving 30 years of a life sentence for passing classified information to Israel, Pollard is not allowed to leave the United States for a period of at least five years, with the parole board imposing strict guidelines on his release.

But after Democrat Joe Biden’s victory in the US presidential election earlier this month, Trump, who is due to leave the White House on January 20, is expected to grant pardons during his last weeks in power similar to his predecessors.

Pollard’s parole is set to be reviewed on November 21, however, and the Justice Department may decide to commute his sentence.

    • He is not in jail. He has been released years ago, but is not allowed to travel freely outside the USA. He would like to move to Israel.

    • B’H, he is not still in jail; he was released on parole in 2015. However, the terms of his parole release are very much “not nice at all.” As noted, he cannot leave the US for five years, and he is under constant tight surveillance monitoring. Because of this tight surveillance monitoring, he was not able to actually be hired at a good job that had been initially offered to him. Please pray for Yehonatan ben Malka to be fully cleared of all restrictions.
