Please note that Planters Dry Roasted Peanuts, which display a plain “K” symbol, are in fact treif. As seen on the ingredient panel, they contain gelatin.

Has anything changed? Why this alert now? Were they kosher and have now a changed status?
Thank you for the warning.
While we don’t eat items with gelatin, I don’t think everyone holds it’s assur. I believe gelatin is made from atzomas yevaishos (dried bones, literally) which is controversial – some (most?) people hold it’s assur and/or avoid it, others don’t.
Exactly. Eating chalav stam is 100 times worse than any gelatin. If one eats treif, at least he’ll eventually going to get into Gan Eden. If one consumes chalav stam, ein loh chelek liolam haba. That’s what I was told by my rebbiem.
To Still wearing a white shirt
Its not the white shirt Its the black hat. LOL
You should sue for malpractice.
why do you cut my comment?
ROYztl does not hold gelatin is treif!
believe gelatin is “treif”
Perhaps it is vegan gelatin or fish gelatin?
I’m not saying a K is a good hechsher, and I would not rely on it at all. But this does not mean it is really, definitely traif.
Who ever relied on a plain K anyway?
Gelatin can be made kosher also. Although, usually it is treif.
Possibly: But some gelatin is vegetable based. Call them and ask if it’s vegan.
It also lists Garlic, Paprika and Dried Corn on that label. I’m not 100% about this being the plain Planters DR Peanuts. This seems like the ingredients from one of those Mix bags that one can find at the gas stations. I have a Planters Lightly Salted DR Peanuts jar right in front of me and it lists only… Peanuts, Sea Salt. None of the other items listed above.
I would double check this…
I called them today and confirmed beef

Maybe its kosher gelatin. Vegetarian gelatin.
1. Many Poskim agree that as gelatin in a non food, all gelatin is kosher.
2. More conservative Poskim reqire gelatin to come from Kosher animals only.
3.If the gelatin is from kosher animals, some Poskim even allow it in fish or dairy products.
4.There are vegetarian /chemical derived gelatin products that are totally kosher.
5. Maybe this gelatin is used as a preservative or water disperser and is not Nosen Taam in any way to the peanut. A peanut is a peanut, it does not contain gelatin
I’m not sure what brought this on, especially because it’s been the case for almost 30 years???
While the label lists gelatin, there are reliably kosher certified gelatins on the market, which make their way into reliably kosher certified product. Yes, this gelatin is not a kosher gelatin however, as noted, it’s something that’s been the case for 30 years.
