Just look at the dozens of parsha journals when you come to shul Friday night I’m guilty of partaking in reading them during Davening. And I’m concerned that there is a probably less than a minyan of mispalelim not reading
They should take it even further and get rid of the food, coffee, etc. A Shul is not a cafe. In some cases it may be allowed, but heterim are limited, it is not a hefket velt that allows every Beis medresh to be used as a twenty four hour tea room!

they would be better off banishing cell phones
from their shuls and not advertisements that serve the public and help yidden make a living

Let a Yid make Parnsa, and rather stop people from texting and emailing in middle of Davening.
Why ban tissue boxes?
So the people that have businesses that help support the town shoiuldn’t advertise?
You can advertise in many fine journals and around town. Shul is not a place of commerce.
