Knesset Committee Votes To Go Ahead With Immunity Debate As Lawmakers Set Up Key Committee

Knesset has voted to grant itself the power to pick the members for the House committee – a parliamentary body with the power to vote on the immunity request from Israel’s caretaker PM Benjamin Netanyahu.

The lawmakers with Likud and other right-wing parties stormed out of the room amid a heated debate on the legality of the gathering, paving the way to a 16-1 vote overruling a prior vote that reserved the right to pick the members of House Committee to Parliament Speaker Yuli Edelstein.

Now, the committee is set to convene later on in the day to start staffing the House Committee as Blue and White pushes the pedal to the metal on the immunity deliberations.
