Four Democratic members of the U.S. House of Representatives have been circulating a letter to U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, threatening the conditioning or even cutting off of U.S. assistance to Israel if the Jewish state goes ahead with its plans to apply sovereignty Yehuda and the Shomron.

The letter has been issued by Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.), Pramila Jayapal (D-Wash.) and Betty McCollum (D-Minn.).

In the letter, the progressive members of Congress, citing unspecified “leading human rights experts,” warn that “annexing parts of the West Bank will perpetuate and entrench human rights violations against Palestinians including limitations on freedom of movement, mass expropriation of privately-owned Palestinian land, further expansion of illegal settlements, continued demolitions of Palestinian homes, and a loss of Palestinian control over their natural resources.”

The letter accuses Israel of “paving the path toward an apartheid system” since it won’t grant citizenship to Palestinians living in annexed territory,” despite the Palestinians being under the control of the Palestinian Authority, known for corruption, human-rights abuses and supporting terrorism against Israelis.

“The U.S. should work to build a future in which all Palestinians and Israelis live under full equality by upholding a foreign policy that centers human rights and dignity for all people,” states the letter. “We therefore call on you to use a combination of pressure and incentives to stop Israel’s plans to illegally annex the West Bank, which would ensure a worsening of the situation for all Palestinians and Israelis.”

The Congress members warn that if Israel were to go ahead with annexation, which the Israeli government has said it will do some time after July 1, “we will work to ensure non-recognition as well as pursue conditions on the $3.8 billion in U.S. military funding to Israel, including human rights conditions and withholding funds for the off-shore procurement of Israeli weapons equal to or exceeding the amount the Israeli government spends annually to fund settlements, as well as the policies and practices that sustain and enable them.”

In an action alert email on Monday, the American Israel Public Affairs Committee called the letter “one-sided” and “directly threatens the U.S.-Israel relationship,” “supports conditioning and cutting America’s security assistance commitment to Israel” and “would damage American interests, risk the security of Israel and make a two-state solution less likely.”

  1. If the American Indian nations would do the same thing and declare sovereignty over the lands that are presently occupied by the white settlers descendants and demand reparations, would she and her posse be so willing to support them? Maybe we can give back the land between New Mexico and Mexico as we annexed it. Or maybe we can give back the annexed land in Puerto Rico and ship this ingrate and her posse back there.

  2. I’m shocked! Shocked, I say!
    Or not.
Dogs bark. Cows moo. And BDS-supporting antisemites such as Reps. Tlaib and McCollum, aided by their good buddy AOC (who has no problem with their antisemitism) bash Israel.

    • And let Trump bully everyone in the world including Israel? Bad idea. The person we need in the White House to stop the bullying is Joe Biden, who has publicly called this idea “Outrageous”, and “A Gigantic Mistake”. His campaign said “He would not tie military assistance to Israel to any political decisions that it makes. Period. Full Stop.”

The only problem Trump would have with this is that it wasn’t his idea. He loved to bully allies.

      • Why Mr Hall thinks that having a sleepy old Joe who cant get a straight sentence out of his mouth is beyond me.

What is wrong with Trump bullying to get his way? Would you rather that USA gets bullied by all other countries?????

      • Since when has Trump bullied Israel?! Mr. Trump does not have many things going for him but one undeniable fact is that he has been the friendliest president to them, probably in history. If you want to bash Trump, pick on a real fault. No need to make new ones up.

      • Charlie Horse,

Here you go again, our resident Mah Yafis, appearing right on schedule in a puff of noxious smoke to deflect all blame onto Trump and ignore your anti-Semitic heroes in the democrat party.

  3. At the moment the letter has been signed by only 13 Representatives. It will not have close to majority support.

    • that might be but the fact that they can do such things without facing repercussions speaks very loudly. why are they tolerated?

  4. President Trump, far from being a bully, is the principal who psychs out the bully. He’s been very very good to Israel, because he believes it should exist. He treats it as a respected ally and lets it make its own decisions. He officially accepted Jerusalem as its capital, which other presidents were afraid to do (or ideologically opposed to doing). He has supported its right to defend itself. He appointed a frum Jew as ambassador. He’s been tough on the Arabs. He publicly brings Hashem into the picture. What do you want from him, to be Moshiach?
Biden actually has a history of trying to bully Israel, and was put in his place by Begin for that. He will treat Israel as he has in the past, as an ally if it behaves as he wants it to or as a supplicant to be punished if it does not. Biden, or more likely his liberal democrat handlers, will support those who wish to destroy Israel.

  5. Charlie Hall: Im glad you have drank from the democrats jug of kool aid. Biden still has not come clean about his son Hunter and Ukraine. And talk about being bullied Biden is going to pick a black female for VP. He is totally beholden to the left wing of his party.
