  1. Rav Gershon Shlita says that you could argue with the Gadol Hador in Torah regarding areas of hanhaga because it’s possible to be a “bar plugta,” or on a similar stature, to Rav Chaim in Gadlus regarding hanhagas haklal.

I honestly have trouble following that. I never heard of such a concept called “Gadlus” in hanhagas haklal. The hanhaga must follow the Torah, and therefore hanhagas haklal should be given to the Gadol who has the most Gadlus Batorah.

  2. Poignant thoughts.

Re “ATZAS HaYEITZER” regarding Inspiration to know more of Torah-

I am assuming that Rabbi Ribner is just trying to make sure that People do not DROP their IYUN learning.

He has nothing to worry about !
    כולא האי, ואולי

In fact, it is quite the opposite. We should cherish & cheer on K’lall Yisroel for this ‎‎התעוררות הכרה ותשוקה to have some
שאיפה to master more of the Torah.

Our Greatest Gedolim & Roshei Yeshivah [Rav Shach Rav Aron Kotler The Brisker Rav Zichronom Tzadikim L’vrachah], have ALL stated unequivocally ONE CAN NOT PROPERLY SHTEIG IN LEARING IF THEY ONLY LEARN A SMALL FRACTION OF A MESSECHTA. [they bemoaned this when Yeshivos covered a few hundred percent more than today] Iyun, of course.

The Brisker Rav famously stated “a Bachur needs to learn (b’Iyun) a MINIMUM of 20 Blatt a month.

As Rabbi Ribner eloquently stated. It is a Big Kovod Hatorah to witness Klall Yisroel’s collective Neshamos, in the wake of this Godol HaDor to HAVE SOME SORT OF ASPIRATION IN LEARNING & KNOWING OUR TORAH & NOT BEING SATISFIED WITH VERY MEAGER goals.

  3. Re A Godol of previous Generations:

A clear thinker as Rabbi Ribner, surely understands that in aspects [Not just the deleting one] a Great Godol CAN have MAALOS Even related to previous generations. it does not simply boil down to ” is he bigger than the Chazon Ish” etc.

In fact, this sort of focusing on Maalos of Gedolim that pass away IS COMMON.

I vividly remember when Rav Moshe ZT”L passed away, it was said that “he would have been considered a Gadol 200 Years prior.

  4. Re ” Not Greater-Just A different approach”.

As Rav Ribner Correctly Stated- THESE MAALOS ARE TO BE FOCUSED ON B’SHAAS HESPEDO.

DELIVERING & DISSEMINATING THESE THOUGHTS ” Not Greater-Just A different approach” JUST SERVE TO COOL OFF THE MESSAGE THAT WE ARE SUPPOSED TO BE TAKEN R”L.
