Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s Health Department understated the number of New Yorkers who died in nursing homes during the early days of the coronavirus pandemic by more than 50 percent as the facilities struggled to properly isolate and treat residents amid a state order that they not turn away COVID-19 patients.
The bombshell finding was contained in a new 76-page report released Thursday by state Attorney General Letitia James, which found that mismanagement and long-standing problems in the private care business turned nursing homes into COVID death traps.
Lawmakers and nursing home advocates alike have been critical of the Cuomo administration’s virus-related policies governing nursing home protocols, specifically a now-infamous March 25 order that barred homes from turning away COVID-positive individuals.

What ever happened to Ms. James investigation into former President Trump’s personal tax returns?! I know she was working on it ever since she was allegedly “elected” to Attorney General. As a taxpayer I have the right to know, WHAT WAS HER FINDINGS??? Is the former President innocent or guilty?!
Problem: what to do with covid-positive individuals who have no place to return to? You realize most will need assistance for a while, after they leave the hospital.
– Keep the recovering patients in hospitals and turn new patients away and let them die?
– Shift the problem to nursing homes, reasoning that infectious patient management is scalable and ICU care isn’t?
– Send these recovering patients out the door and let them fend for themselves?
All three options are deadly. But what do YOU think it should have been done? There is no other option.
The Jacob javitz center was left unused. They could have been placed there in the interim, leaving all the COVID positives to rehab or get treated. Sending a Covid positive to a nursing home was a mistake, this dummy has to own up to it. As he said beautifully ( of course he was turning the blame to the feds) if the leaders fail to do their jobs people will die. He is the leader who caused the death.
Option 4: send them to the USNS Comfort Hospital Ship.
