A man was taken into custody in Times Square with what was believed to be a semi-automatic weapon, according to sources.
Sources say an officer spotted an 18-year-old man with what he believed to be a semi-automatic weapon outside of the turnstile of the Times Square A/C/E subway station.
The man claimed to have a permit for the weapon in his home state and may have had an Ohio ID, sources say.
Sources say the man was taken into custody without incident and is being questioned, with charges pending.

Just say a handgun. A regular handgun, that’s perfectly legal to carry in the free states with the easily obtainable ccp or even constitutional carry. Don’t try to confuse people with this “semi automatic” lingo. After all, you don’t use this gun’s other characteristics, such as saying a “steel weapon” or a “weapon weighting an entire one pound” or a “pink colored weapon”. Obviously, usage of “semi automatic” is designed to trick the reader into thinking that it was some kind of a rifle.
