The Government of Israel decided last night that davening will be allowed at the kosel according to the new guidelines to people at a distance of up to 500 meters from one’s place of residence in an open area while maintaining a distance of at least 2 meters between people.
Beginning last night, the Kosel Plaza will be divided into a number of prayer areas with the required spaces, The Western Wall Heritage Foundation said.
Davening at the Kosel is still only allowed for those people who live within 500 meters of the Kosel Plaza, meaning – only residents of the Old City of Yerushalayim, they said.
In coordination with the police, entrance to the Kosel will only be through the security checkpoint from the direction of SHaar Ha’ashpa and from the entrance coming from David Street.
An usher of the Western Wall Heritage Foundation will stand at every entrance and keep accurate track of all those entering. The mispallelim will enter for a defined period of time. Likewise, their temperature will be measured and it will be ascertained that they have a mask in accordance with regulations.
