More than 3,028 people have been shot so far this year in Chicago, surpassing the total for all of 2015—2,980. Eight people were killed and an additional 35 wounded in shootings this past weekend in the city, which this year has seen the worst violence in two decades.
According to the Chicago Tribune’s analysis, the city has had more than 500 homicides this year. About a third of those shootings happened in three of the city’s 22 police districts. About 423 people were shot in the Harrison district alone. At this point last year, just 237 people were shot in the same district. Read more at the CHICAGO TRIBUNE.
