About 20% of Republicans now “strongly” or “somewhat” approve of the Senate taking action to convict President Donald Trump in an impeachment trial, according to a new Politico/Morning Consult poll.
The number marks an increase from the 14% who had said in an earlier poll this month that they would approve of a Senate conviction.
Here are highlights from the new poll:
- 86% of Democrats say they “strongly” or “somewhat” approve of a potential Senate conviction.
- 50% of independents say they “strongly” or “somewhat” approve of a Senate conviction.
- 55% of all those polled said they either “strongly” or “somewhat” approve of the Senate convicting Trump. 37% said they “strongly or “somewhat” disapprove of a conviction, while 7% said they had no opinion.

For — really it has been a couple of decades — very many of the Republicans have acted virtually the same as wicked liberal Democrats. The severely sarcastic remark that stated: “We have a ‘choice’ between the Democrans and the Republicrats” expressed people’s realization that they are both pretty much the same AND people’s outright disgust at this political setup, that it is really a one-party-oligarchy.
During the 2000 election, when the two candidates were former Vice President Albert Gore and former Governor of Texas George Bush II, the radio talk show host Michael Savage expressed the same sarcasm with switching the first letters of their family names: “The ‘choice’ is between Gush and Bore!!” And, obviously in that remark, he was further expressing that the whole thing was one big “BORE”!! Many times he exclaimed that (then the governor had become) President George Bush II was really “a LIBERAL DEMOCRAT with an ‘R’ in front of his name!!” Many times he angrily exclaimed: “Just because you have an ‘R’ in front of your name, means we have to keep voting for you?????”
During the 2004 election, when the two candidates were former President George Bush II and former Senator John Kerry, many times the arch conservative independent news reporter, Alex Jones, cynically pointed out that the two were ACTUAL COUSINS and that BOTH OF THEM, during their college years, were members of a severely wicked secret fraternity society called “Skull & Bones”: “WHICH OF THE TWO MEMBERS OF SKULL & BONES DO YOU WANT?????”

They wanted to “distance themselves” “from Trump.” First of all, with very, very many of them, the ONLY REASON that they are even IN their current positions of power, was BECAUSE of President Trump!!!!!!!!!!!! It was either because of (in the 2016 election) people who voted for President Trump, (for the other positions) also voted for those Republican candidates, or/and in the elections for those positions, President Trump endorsed those Republican candidates and gave of his time and effort to go out and campaign for them.
