Due to the change of government in Israel, families of the Meron victims have not received compensation despite an outline presented by the previous government to pay victims’ families $30,000 each, or $80,000 each if they had two fatalities.

MK Alex Kushnir, new head of the Finance Committee, committed to presenting a plan within three weeks after he took over. When nothing happened for a month, MK Yaakov Asher of UTJ submitted the bill for a vote, but it was suppressed by a vote of 59  – including Prime Minister Naftoli Bennett – to 55.

  1. Had they not gotten any money from the government, they would’ve told the truth. The fact is, the government shut up every family with lots of money.
