NYPD Commissioner James O’Neill recently sat down with CBS2’s Jessica Moore for one of his first interviews about officer suicides.

  1. Well, yes, that makes a lot of sense. Most of these cops have an unusually low self-esteem, whose only reason they took the job was so that they could bully others and get paid for doing so. It’s not like these donut eaters have much better character traits than the average New Yorker. They are not better or more holy than us. It’s a low intelligent job which requires little skills to get hired. It provides great benefits and an unbeatable pension plan. It’s not like they had a choice, hmmm, should I become a lawyer and earn $500 and hour, or should I become a cop and earn $18.65 an hour (before taxes) but at least I’m contributing my amazing saintfulness to the world at large. I mean, please.

  2. Cops get paid a lot more than $18.65 an hour

Their minimum starting salary is $42,500 plus plenty of benefits, vacation, sick leave, and a pension
