The New York Police Department reached a settlement Thursday in a lawsuit over surveillance activities of Muslim citizens.
It agreed to implement new barriers to keep officers from beginning investigations based on an individual’s race, ethnicity, or religion.
Part of the reform initiatives will also reinstall a watchdog within the department to prevent unfair targeting in the future. Read more at The Hill.
