One Palestinian was killed and 54 were injured by Israel Defense Forces (IDF) fire on Friday during protests held along the Israel-Gaza border, the Gaza Health Ministry reported.
Among the injured, 22 were wounded by live ammunition, the Health Ministry said.
The Ministry further stated that the deceased was a 28-year-old civilian, Alaa Nizar Ayesh Hamdan, who died as a martyr by the “Israeli occupation forces east of Jabalia,” located some 2.5 miles north of Gaza City.
According to local reports, some 5,800 protesters gathered at various flashpoints along the security barrier surrounding the Palestinian enclave for the 77th weekly Friday protests.
