Paladino Buys Silver a One-Way Ticket to Washington – Literally

Carl Paladino bought Assembly speaker Sheldon Silver a one-way ticket to Washington, D.C. to leave less than 24-hours after election day, in response to a comment Silver made to a Jewish newspaper.Sheldon Silver told the Jewish Week newspaper that New Yorkers “should consider moving out of state” if Paladino wins the race for Governor.

In response, Paladino instructed his campaign manager Michael Caputo to buy Silver a one-way train ticket to Washington, D.C. “because after Carl Paladino wins in New York, the only place that will hire him [Silver] is the Obama Administration.” says Caputo.

Caputo says the $75.00 Amtrak train coach ticket is waiting for Silver at will-call at the Albany train station. Scheduled departure from Albany is November 3rd, 2010 at 4:50 a.m. with a transfer in New York City before arriving in Washington, D.C. at 11:25 a.m. The Albany departure is less than 24 hours after Election Day.

The train ticket tactic comes on the same day a Siena College poll shows Carl Paladino 33 points behind Andrew Cuomo. Caputo says the Paladino camp takes all public polls with a grain of salt.

Meanwhile, former democratic New York State governor Eliot Spitzer appeared on CNN Thursday night stating that Cuomo has “a lot of enemies” and that “The problem with Andrew has is that everybody knows that behind the scenes, he is the dirtiest, nastiest political player out there and that is his reputation from his years in Washington — when his father was Governor — he was the tough guy. He had brass knuckles and he played hard ball.”

2 On Your Side reached out to Andrew Cuomo for an interview but our request was denied. Cuomo is scheduled to be in Buffalo Friday evening for a $1,000.00-a-plate fundraiser at the Avant Building in Downtown Buffalo.
