A Palestinian teenager died from his gunshot wounds in clashes with Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Tuesday evening, following a weekend of relative calm that offered promise of progress between Hamas and Israel.
Muntaser al-Baz, 17, succumbed to his wounds in the Shifa Hospital in Gaza City after being shot in the head shot in the head near Bureij in central Gaza, while six more Palestinians were also injured in the protests.
An Israeli army spokeswoman said troops at the border fence opened fire during a violent protest by about 200 Palestinians.”They burned tires and threw explosive devices at soldiers,” she said. “They also threw a petrol bomb.” None of the soldiers was injured.
