Palestinian terrorists in Israeli jails sent a letter to National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir warning of bloodshed if he changes their living conditions.

“If they touch our conditions—blood will be spilled,” the letter said, according to Kan News, which reported on Tuesday it had received a copy from the leadership of the security prisoners.

“With steps against the security prisoners, he [Ben-Gvir] is going to set the region on fire. Someone is using us for populist ends to cover up his failures, and whoever fails to provide security to the citizens will not be able to break us. We will respond to him with a war of liberation,” the letter states.

Ben-Gvir recently tightened restrictions on security prisoners, a term generally referring to Palestinians held for nationalistically motivated attacks or membership in terrorist groups.

The minister ordered showering time reduced to four minutes per terrorist prisoner with a total of one hour of running water time for each prison wing where terrorists are held.

Ben-Gvir also ordered the closure of prison bakeries where security prisoners made themselves fresh pita, in early February.

In a statement at that time, Ben-Gvir’s office said: “The policies of the minister are designed to deny perks and benefits to imprisoned terrorists as far as the law permits, and most certainly to deny them benefits that for some reason are granted only to terrorists and not to prisoners behind bars for other types of crime.”

The security prisoners in their letter denied they were fighting for pitas and showers. “We are fighting for our liberation and the liberation of our homeland,” they said, warning that the reaction will take place in a “war” outside the prison, in Judea and Samaria, the Gaza Strip and Yerushalayim.
