Parler, a social network that pitches itself as a “free speech” alternative to Twitter and Facebook, is suffering from whiplash.

Over the past several months, Parler has become one of the fastest-growing apps in the United States. Millions of President Trump’s supporters have flocked to it as Facebook and Twitter increasingly cracked down on posts that spread misinformation and incited violence, including muzzling Mr. Trump by removing his accounts this past week. By Saturday morning, Apple listed Parler as the No. 1 free app for its iPhones.

But hours later, Apple said it had removed Parler from its App Store. Google had made a similar move a day earlier. The companies both said that Parler had not sufficiently policed the conversation on its app, allowing too many posts that encouraged violence and crime.

“We have always supported diverse points of view being represented on the App Store, but there is no place on our platform for threats of violence and illegal activity,” Apple said in a statement late Saturday. “Parler has not taken adequate measures to address the proliferation of these threats to people’s safety.”

  1. I thank you for discussing openly your support of “free speech” i.e.”Auschwitz Camp” and I will definitely not forget this campaign of yours.

  2. Please read first amendment it has nothing to do with a private companies and its rules. Can ‘t yell fire in a movie house. Stop. Apple and amazon no longer allowing the download of parler because of what parler propagate but by all means descendants of Holocaust survivors should join the nazis. Unbelievable.

    • Can’t make out your ramblings, you sound like you drank one too many l’chaims today.
What those companies are doing is called collusion. And they are making sure that the Dems and the left let them keep their monopolies

    • You misread it. It’s not Parler suspending people. It’s Google, Amazon and Apple who are banning Parler. Parler is upset about it.

  3. They are trying to turn the riots into a stain on the whole Republican Party
Going through the the American Media been  hacking  the last few days realizing a lot of Americans are apt to perceive of the riots as something important almost a turning point But just as possibly to walk away with the “wrong message”
These riots and the spirits that drive them are something to consider as many  beginning to and willing to perceive the whole social fabric has been pulled out – and who is primarily responsible?!–from under
And for them that is extremely worrying
The Primal drive that animated America has gone  amok , that much is obvious
That this is rather a belated manifestation of what they’ve caused over the past decade and more is less clear to most
who is going to bear the weight of responsibility and punishment for it still up in the air

  4. that’s what happens when the defense bill was passed without removing the protection of section 230. Do nothing congress – this country is destroying itself from within.

    • awww how cute you actually believe trumps ramblings. you do realize without 230 this would have been more likely because it would make companies responsible for all postings on their sites!

  5. Who made them in charge of decoding what’s dangerous speech or not. If they want to be clean they should get FCC to be in charge of all their content first.

  6. Headline makes no sense

This encourages free speech. I get that Matzav likes holocaust denying violence inciting bigots, and thta is your right. But why should Apple and Google be forced to support them too?
