Rep. Paul Ryan kicked off his tenure as House speaker by removing a portrait of disgraced predecessor Dennis Hastert from the building.
The portrait of Hastert, who pleaded guilty in a hush-money case last week, was replaced by early 20th-century speaker Frederick H. Gillett.
“The speaker believed it was appropriate to rotate in a different portrait,” a spokeswoman said. Read more at The Hill.
