Brooklyn, NY – In what has become an annual tradition, Plaza Auto Mall once again took charge as the host and one of the key sponsors in the pre-Thanksgiving turkey distribution for families in need. The popular auto dealership was joined by other corporate sponsors and guests from a variety of community organizations.
The event celebrating this community driven initiative was attended by Assemblymen, City Council members, State Senators and other political figures who each pointed out how this distribution epitomizes what Thanksgiving is all about and how caring for and helping each other has always been part of Brooklyn’s DNA.
This year’s event held special meaning to the Jewish community as for the first time, Kosher turkeys were also distributed through the popular Masbia organization. “We at Masbia Soup Kitchen Network are extremely thankful to Plaza Auto Mall and the Office of the Brooklyn Borough President for this incredible donation of kosher turkeys” said Alexander Rapaport, executive director of Masbia. “This will enable us to provide for so many families in need throughout Brooklyn. I’m especially thankful that kosher turkeys were included in this year’s distribution. This reflects the thoughtfulness and realization of the diverse needs of Brooklynites.”
A special focus was put on acknowledging the many volunteers who worked tirelessly to make these distributions possible. Overall, thousands of turkeys and other food items were donated to over 100 locations that serve community members in need this Thanksgiving.
As the event drew to a close, it was clear that these efforts would be a major factor in bringing joy to so many families who otherwise would be unable to participate in the Thanksgiving festivities. The support and assistance provided by these wonderful benefactors will surely play a major role in making this a happy thanksgiving in Brooklyn, NY.
