A recent survey conducted by the Pew Research Center reveals that Israelis have a highly favorable opinion of the United States compared to citizens of almost any other country worldwide. The research, published on Tuesday, indicates that 87% of Israelis hold a positive view of the US, placing it second only to Poland, where the favorability rating stands at 93%. Out of the 23 countries surveyed, Hungary had the lowest perception of the US, with only 44% expressing a positive view.

Notably, the figure for Israelis increased by four percent from the previous year, representing the highest ratings Israelis have given to the US since 2000. Moreover, Israelis also exhibit a positive perception of US President Joe Biden when compared to many other nations.

The survey indicates that 68% of Israelis have confidence in President Biden’s ability to handle global affairs, marking an eight-point increase from the previous year. Only in Poland (83%), Sweden (76%), Kenya (76%), and Nigeria (71%) did individuals express a more favorable view of President Biden. Israelis’ satisfaction with Biden surpasses the median by 14 percentage points.

This support for President Biden stands out, considering his administration’s criticism of the Israeli government’s judicial reforms, expansion of settlements, treatment of Palestinians, and failure to address settler violence. Additionally, President Biden’s decision not to extend an invitation to Israeli Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu to the White House has been perceived as a significant snub in Israel.

Former President Donald Trump, who recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and relocated the US embassy there, was also more popular in Israel compared to most other parts of the world. Trump boasted high favorability ratings among Israelis, reaching a peak of 71% in 2019. His predecessor, Barack Obama, received a similar level of support in 2014, but that figure dropped to 49% in both 2011 and 2015.

In terms of perceptions of US interference in their affairs, 88% of Israelis believe the US meddles, while 74% believe the US contributes to global peace and stability. The survey results align with the median findings across the 23 countries surveyed, where 50% of respondents believed the US interferes in other nations’ affairs while contributing to world peace and stability.

Pew conducted face-to-face interviews with 1,001 Israeli adults from March 15 to April 24 for the survey released on Tuesday. The margin of error for the Israeli sample was 4.2%. Overall, the survey encompassed a total of 27,285 adults surveyed across the 23 countries.

  1. Just whom did they ask? Obviously if the first issue being reported relates to judicial reform, you can see who they targeted for their poll.
This is one big “shtussim” report. The opinion of the left, dog-owning and pork eating persons – nebech, oy ah bruch – ought not be a reflection of the overall population. I’m not insinuating any extra reverence for the 45th president, nevertheless this current POTUS is not good for Israel. His administration is still referring to the pre-67 borders! How dare they!
