It is with great sadness that Matzav.com reports the passing of R’ Morris Shalom z”l.

Mr. Shalom ran a very successful business, but his primary occupation was Torah and mitzvos.

Mr. Shalom was one of the pillars of the Sefardic community in Flatbush and was one of the pillars of the Yeshiva Ateret Torah kehillah. He maintained a remarkably close relationship with the esteemed rosh yeshiva, Chacham Yosef Harari-Raful. He served as the baal korei at Ateret Torah for over 40 years.

Chacham Yosef remarked that when any project was proposed, Morris was the first person to give a check and to throw his support behind it.

Despite his successes, Mr. Shalom was exceedingly humble, carrying himself modestly always.

He woke up each day before 5 a.m., beginning his day with limud haTorah. During every free moment, he had a sefer in his hand, constantly learning. He finished Shas b’iyun.

Chacham Yosef Harari-Raful remarked about Mr. Shalom, “This is what a ben Torah looks like.”

His days were filled with chassodim of all types, as he helped others, both on the klal level and on the individual level. His tzedakah, both quantitatively and qualitatively, was extraordinary.

He didn’t preach to others, instead leading by example, serving as a prototype for others to aspire to. Mr. Shalom was an example to so many others, who sought to emulate him.

Mr. Shalom is survived by an outstanding family and bnei and bnos Torah. His loss a profound one for his family, his kehillah, and the greater Torah community.

Yehi zichro boruch.
