rabbi-moshe-stahlerIt is with great sadness that we report the passing of Rabbi Moshe Stahler zt”l.

Rabbi Stahler served as the principal of HAWQ, Hebrew Academy of West Queens, NY, for many years. He was a beloved mechanech and talmid chochom who influenced many people during his lifetime.

Rabbi Stahler is survived by his wife, Mrs. Miriam Stahler, and his children, Esti Zharnest of Ramat Bet Shemesh, Yaakov Stahler of New York, and Yosefa Weisberg of Bet El.

Yehi zichro boruch.

  1. Rabbi Stahler was a true mechanech who had one goal: to show Yiddishe children the meaning of “dracheha darchei noam”. This he accomplished no matter who his students were… children of the shearis hapleita in the 1960s, or later, immigrants from the former Soviet Union.
    Yehi Zichro Boruch.

  2. Former HAWQ student here. Rabbi Stahler was a great person who truly cared about the kids. He had a very big heart and was so enthusiastic about bringing people closer to their Jewish roots.

  3. I am also a former student of HAWQ and I too feel that Rabbi Stahler was a wonderful human being and a great Rabbi. A respected person in the community.

  4. Rabbi Stahler was a wonderful person who cared for every student at HAWQ. He was stern when it was required of him, and kind always. Quite a loss

  5. It is with tremendous sadness that I just learned about the passing of the tzaddik Rav Stahler. I was so blessed in my lifetime to know the great man that he was but his family should be comforted to know that his legacy lives on in my child who has learned torah since and is living the life Rav Stahler taught to me and which I have passed on to my son. The world is truly a sadder place without him and we have lost a giant. May Hashem provide for him a place at the table of learning in Gan Eden next to the greatest names in the Torah and he will be welcomed by them as an equal. Baruch Dayan Emet.
