Rav Chaim Kanievsky and Rav Gershon Edelstein have signed a strong letter protesting the plan, backed by the Reform movement, to make wholesale changes at the Kosel, including the implementation of a mixed gender section at the makom kadosh.

The letter seems to be directed at Religious Affairs Minister Matan Kahana, who supports the proposal to reform the Kosel.

Titled “Ufortzu Chomos Migdalai,” the letter, seen below, decries the efforts “to destroy and cut off all holiness of Yisroel after they have attempted to break down the barriers of kashrus and conversion… Now they have come to do damage to the remnant of the Bais Hamikdosh, the Kosel Hamaarovi, which the Shechinah has never left.”

The letter goes on to protest the proposed desecration of Kosel by “those who want to destroy our religion.”

Rav Chaim and Rav Gershon go on to say that one and all are obligated to work to stop this desecration and prevent the chillul Hashem.
