It is with great sadness that Matzav.com reports the petirah of Rav Moshe Halevi Turk zt”l. He was 99.
Rav Turk was known as one of the greatest mechanchim of recent generations and one who was privileged to study under gedolei Torah.
Rav Moshe was born on the 26th of Tammuz in Pressburg to his father, Rav Dov Halevi Turk.
For decades, he led Talmud Torah Yesodei HaTorah in Tel Aviv, where he taught generations of talmidim.
Together with his wife, Rebbetzin Charna, daughter of the late Rav Dovid Schlesinger, they raised a beautiful mishpacha.
Rav Moshe was famously a ben bayis at the home of the Chazon Ish. He was also close to Rav Elazar Menachem Man Shach and the Shefa Chaim of Sanz.
His children include Rav Eliezer Turk, Rav Dov Turk, Rav Yosef Tzvi Turk, Rav Yaakov Turk, Mrs. Kowalski, and the wives of Rav Chaim Dovid Kowalski, Rav Aharon Blau, Rav Shmuel Wolf, and Rav Hershel Gombo. He was predeceased by his daughter, Mrs. Miriam Gombo a”h.
The levayah was held at his home on Rechov Bartenura in in Bnei Brak and kevurah followed at the Ponovezher Bais Hachaim.
