It is with great sadness that Matzav.com reports the passing of Rav Yisroel Aharon Kopschitz zt”l, rosh yeshiva at Yeshiva Torah Ore in Yerushalayim and rov of the Mishkan Esther shul in the Sanhedria neighborhood. He was 89.
But in Yerushalayim, Rav Kopschitz was a son of Rav Tzvi Hirsch Hakohen Kopschitz zt”l, rov rabbi of the Diskin orphanage of yesteryear, and his mother, Mrs. Chaya Ruchama a”h, granddaughter of Rav Yosef Chaim Sonnenfeld.
Rav Yisroel Aharon was the rov of the Mishkan Esther shul in Sanhedria and one of the senior ramim at Torah Ore, where he was marbitz Torah to thousands of talmidim.
Ten years ago, his wife, Rebbetzin Sarah, passed away.
His son-in-law, Rav Yehuda Fisher, is a member of the Badatz of Eidah Hachareidis.
His brothers are Rav Yosef Chaim Kopschitz, rosh yeshiva at Yeshiva Porat Yosef, Rav Nosson Kopschitz of Beit Shemesh, and Rav Yaakov Ze’ev Kopschitz.
The levayah was held at the Shamgar Funeral Home in Yerushalayim, followed by kevurah on Har Hamenuchos.
