It is with great sadness that Matzav.com reports the passing of Reb Avrohom Wolfson z”l. He was seventy years old.

Reb Avrohom was a son of Reb Zev Wolfson, one of the greatest Torah philanthropists of his time.

A resident of Flatbush, Brooklyn, Reb Avrohom was a renowned baal chesed and tomeich Torah whose home was open to anyone in need.

Reb Avrohom was known for his charitable nature and his generous heart. Along with phenomenal tzedakah and chesed, Reb Avrohom had deeply-felt ahavas haTorah and would spend hours learning every day. When roshei yeshiva and rabbonim would visit his house, he would always engage them in conversations in Torah, exchanges that revealed his breadth of knowledge of depth of thought

His middos were impeccable, and he was exceedingly careful about the way he spoke and the words he used.

He had a unique kesher with gedolei Torah,  both past and present. In years past, when visiting Eretz Yisroel, he’d attend the shiurim of Rav Yosef Shalom Elyashiv and spend time with Rav Aharon Leib Shteinman, Rav Michel Yehuda Lefkowitz and others.

Reb Avrohom was raised in a home of one of the greatest visionaries in the realm of tzedakah, chesed and kiruv. While his father, Zev, had unusual success in business and askanus, his lifestyle remained simple and unassuming throughout the years, as he lived in an understated home in Lawrence, drove a modest car, and ran away from accolades. Reb Avrohom emulated his father in this regard, possessing a desire to accomplish, to spread Torah and to awaken the Jewish spark in his assimilated brothers, but not looking for attention and recognition.

Reb Avrohom is survived by his wife, Mrs. Tovie Wolfson, and his children and grandchildren.

The levayah will be held today at Shomrei Hadas Chapels, located at 3803 14th Avenue in Brooklyn, NY. The aron will then be flown to Eretz Yisroel for kevurah there.
