It is with great sadness that Matzav.com reports the petirah of Reb Chaim Moshe Feldman z”l, famed philanthropist. He was niftar at the Laniado Hospital in Kiryat Sanz in Netanya. He was 86 years old.

During the first wave of corona, he was hospitalized in critical condition. Then his condition improved and he was released to his home and even returned to his residence in London. In recent weeks, his condition deteriorated.

Reb Chaim Moshe was a particularly revered figure, giving his fortune to tzedakah and in particular the court of the Vizhnitzer Chassidus.

He made his fortune in the real estate business and in recent years his fortune was estimated at £200 million.

He was a son of Reb Ephraim Fischel and Mrs. Briendel Feldman of Bnei Brak.

He was a son-in-law of the renowned baal tzedakah and baal chesed, Rabbi Getzel Berger of London. After his marriage, Reb Chaim Moshe moved next to his father-in-law in London.

Reb Chaim Moshe was a follower of Vizhnitz with every fiber of his being, becoming very close to the Imrei Chaim and the Yeshuos Moshe.

In addition to being a successful businessman, he learned daily bechavrusa with the Vizhnitzer Rebbe of London.

One of the unique projects that Reb Chaim Moshe was dedicated to was donating mikvaos. He would pay a huge fortune to build a mikvah taharah, especially in the last two years l’illui nishmas for his late son, Reb Yehuda Avrohom Eber.

He recently purchased buildings worth tens of millions of dollars for the Viznitzer institutions in Monsey, donated a building to a London girls’ school, and donated $1 million to the Vizhnitzer Bais Medrash.

His home in London was open to one and all. Reb Chaim Moshe gave donations to every institution with an ayin tovah.

Two and a half years ago, his son-in-law, the Sadigura Rebbe, Rav Yisroel Friedman zt”l, was niftar.

He leaves behind dozens of descendants who are following in his ways.

He was niftar on the day of the yahrtzeit of his rebbe, the Yeshuos Moshe of Vizhnitz, 22 Adar.

The levayah is being held tonight at the main Vizhnitzer Bais Medrash in Bnei Brak.

Yehi zichro boruch.

  1. Baruch Dayan HaEmes, a terrible loss to the Jewish people. But why you want to make it sound like he died from “corona” – this implication makes absolutely no sense. “During the first wave of corona, he was hospitalized in critical condition. Then his condition improved and he was released to his home and even returned to his residence in London. In recent weeks, his condition deteriorated.” The “first wave” was 2 years ago. Even if the corona was the source of his critical condition (and we have no way of knowing if that’s true or not), he got better, went back to London, then in recent weeks got sick 2 years later. It does not sound like he died from corona at all, so why put in that implication?
