Tonight, the Be’er Sheva Magistrate Court extended until Monday the detention of 25-year-old Yana Blum of Rishon LetZion for his involvement in a fatal accident this past week that injured 6 and killed young eight-month-old infant Dovid Domnovitch of Nokdim.

Blum is suspected of reckless homicide and driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol. Reports in the Israeli press indicate that she has previously been apprehended for driving under the influence of alcohol and has had her license revoked.

The fatal accident occurred on Highway 40.

The police investigation reveals that a blood test taken from the driver immediately after the accident showed an alcohol level 3 times the legal limit, as well as marijuana in her blood.

At the end of her investigation, and on the basis of the alleged evidence against her, her detention was extended.

Other members of the Domnovitch family were hospitalized with various degrees of injury at the Soroka Hospital in Be’er Sheva. The father of the family and their seven-year-old son are in critical condition. The mother and the other two children, ages six and four, are in moderate condition.

The one who came to tend to the victims of the accident turned out to be none other than a cousin of the family.
