Israel has resolved to take decisive action against Iran, with preparations already underway to deploy its warplanes for the impending strike, according to a report from Israel’s Channel 12 on Monday.

This decision follows extensive deliberations within Israel’s war cabinet regarding the appropriate response to the recent onslaught of 350 suicide drones and missiles directed towards the nation.

The report outlines the readiness of Israel’s air force, comprising F-16, F-15, and F-35 fighter jets of US origin, to execute a retaliatory strike against the adversarial Islamic state, albeit without specifying a definitive timeline.

The primary objective of the forthcoming strike, according to the report, is to convey a resolute message that Israel will not tolerate such a substantial attack without retaliation. However, Israeli authorities are also mindful of the potential escalation to a broader conflict, as indicated in the report from undisclosed sources. Despite calls for restraint from President Biden and other allies, Israel’s resolve to respond remains firm. Yet, Lt. Gen Herzi Halevi, Israel’s military chief, refrained from divulging further details or providing insights into the timing of the anticipated response.

During a press briefing at the White House, National Security Council spokesman John Kirby called Iran’s missile attack against Israel “a spectacular and embarrassing failure,” and said the key US ally is in “a far stronger strategic position” today than before the attack.

Kirby deferred questions about whether he expected the US to be briefed ahead of an Israeli military response.

“That is an Israeli decision to make. Whether and how they’ll respond to what Iran did on Saturday we’re going to leave squarely with them.”
