Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is considering tasking Mossad chief Yossi Cohen with leading the country’s response to the growing coronavirus pandemic that has seen a dramatic resurgence in recent weeks.
Cohen’s name has been bandied about in recent days in the halls of the Prime Minister’s Office and by relatives of Netanyahu, Channel 12 reported on Monday, while discussions continue over the right person for the job.
Cohen, who heads Israel’s prestigious international spy agency, has already been involved in the early stages of the pandemic response in the country, with the clandestine service tasked with delivering medical equipment to Israel.
