During the summer, the Shin Bet received intelligence from a Gaza Strip informant indicating that Hamas had plans to attack Israel approximately a week after Yom Kippur, Ilana Dayan reported on Channel 12.

The information was passed on to the relevant agent, but wasn’t initially classified as significant.

The source, operated by the Shin Bet, was deemed trustworthy, yet a decision was made to await additional confirming information.

In the aftermath of the deadly Hamas attack, the Shin Bet, in its efforts to investigate the lapse, rediscovered the intelligence report. The agency clarified that thorough examinations revealed no supplementary information corroborating the initial intelligence.

Responding to the report, the Shin Bet stated, “At present, the Shin Bet is focused on the war. The agency is committed to conducting comprehensive investigations to extract lessons, and within this framework, all available information will be scrutinized. Nonetheless, emphasis on one specific intelligence report cannot fully represent the entire intelligence landscape at that time.”

  1. Did the Shin-Daled receive intel that the Israeli government is planning an attack against its own citizens as the US govt on 9/11?
