A high-ranking Israeli official engaged in the talks regarding a potential prisoner exchange has cautioned that the process is poised to be protracted and intricate.

In an interview with Channel 12 News, the official remarked, “This will be a prolonged and convoluted procedure – negotiations will now commence with [Hamas leader in Gaza Yahya] Sinwar.”

Further emphasizing the complexity, the official stated, “Even if there are representatives of Hamas elsewhere, their authority to make decisions is nonexistent. Each detail, down to every punctuation mark, will demand between 24 to 36 hours. This is anticipated to be a multifaceted endeavor.”

On Sunday evening, the Israeli Diplomatic-Security Cabinet greenlit the departure of the Israeli envoy, led by Mossad chief David Barnea, to Doha on Monday, where discussions are set to revolve around the specifics of the hostage release blueprint.

Granting the Israeli delegation a broad mandate, the Cabinet empowered Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant to delve into tactical particulars.

An insider privy to the intricacies disclosed that the delegation “will have the capacity to engage in extensive negotiations.”
