Overnight in Yerushalayim, a protest against the arrest of bnei yeshiva turned violent, with demonstrators setting trash bins on fire, blocking traffic, and throwing stones and bottles at police officers and Border Police forces.

One policewoman was struck in the face by a rock and evacuated to the hospital for treatment.

The disturbance broke out near Rechov Yechezkel, where dozens of protesters rallied against the arrests of yeshiva students who had failed to report for military service.

Police reported that the demonstrators blocked traffic lanes and bus routes, endangering drivers and pedestrians, and ignited bonfires and garbage bins along the roadway.

According to the Israel Police, officers issued repeated dispersal orders before the crowd was forcibly cleared. “After a police commander declared the protest an unlawful disturbance and the participants refused to comply, officers were compelled to use crowd-control measures,” the police said.

Throughout the night, police and Border Police units worked to restore calm and push back the rioters. “The Israel Police respects the right to protest within the law,” the statement continued, “but will act firmly against any breach of public order, assaults on police, or acts of violent rioting.”

  1. Forty years ago a common anti-Zionist sentiment and slogan was הַקֹּל֙
    ק֣וֹל יַֽעֲקֹ֔ב וְהַיָּדַ֖יִם יְדֵ֥י עֵשָֽׂו.
Today it seems like the more militant anti-Zionists have adopted the alleged Zionist viewpoint themselves.

But as far back as the 1930s Rav Chaim Ozer Grodzenkly (as quoted by Rav Yosef Eliyah Henkin) already said that the more extreme and militant anti-Zionists are no less guilty of the Shalosh Shevuos and hisgarus b’umos than the Zionists themselves.

  2. Do they think the AG witch and the other witches in the judicial court and government would give a hoot about their their protests in their own backyard and their burning their own garbage cans? They need to protests where it’ll hurt the witches.

  3. One of the previous Gedolay Torah, ZT’L, very wisely pointed out that whenever protestors use violence (they may think “Wow!! We really gave the enemy a good bang in the head”; the reality though, is that) all that they accomplish is that they INFINITELY boost & strengthen the enemy. For (with their violence) they drive countless scores upon scores of people away from supporting them to instead [now think that they (doing the violence) are the bad guys and the enemy are the good guys, and thus] go and support the enemy.

  4. This violence is so excessively terrible that I seriously question if it is really being done by any of the B’nei Torah who are rightfully and legitimately protesting the abusive actions of the Israel government. For I strongly suspect that, instead, it is operatives of the Mossad or some other behind-the-scenes aspect of the Israel government or some rabid leftist anti-Chareidi group who are doing these wild acts, in order that everyone will THINK that it is the Chareidi protesters who are doing them and thus think that the Chareidim are all bad people. They thus hope that in an environment of more hatred of Chareidim, even sharper anti-Chareidi draft measures will be enacted & implemented.
