A controversial draft reparations proposal that includes a $5 million lump-sum payment for each eligible Black person could make San Francisco the first major U.S. city to fund reparations, though it faces steep financial headwinds and blistering criticism from conservatives, the AP reports.
Today’s meeting of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors will include a presentation by San Francisco’s African American Reparations Advisory Committee, which released its draft report in December. The $5 million-per-person payment is among more than 100 recommendations ranging from offering grants to buy and maintain homes to exempting Black businesses from paying taxes.
An estimated 50,000 Black people live in San Francisco, but it’s not clear how many of them would be eligible for financial reparations.

San Francisco to Air Black Reparations Plan, $5M per Person
Upon learning of the aforementioned plan, the California State lottery office issued a statement on Tuesday saying as follows:
“We vehemently oppose the reparations plan, as that would discourage the beneficiaries of such a plan from purchasing California State lottery tickets. The state would lose millions upon millions of lottery ticket proceeds which are badly needed to help combat Global Warming and to fund much-needed gender studies.”
“To potential beneficiaries of reparations payments,” the statement went on to say, “we’d like to recommend that you choose the lottery ticket path over the reparations path, because, as you well know, when you play the lottery, you have a chance to win not only millions, but billions of dollars!”
“So please do not fall prey to these cheap gimmicky reparations scams,” the statement added. “We’ve got a much better investment for you that only costs a dollar per investment. Purchase a lottery ticket, and you might be California’s newest billionaire.”
“As New York Lottery officials constantly remind us,” the statement concluded, ‘Hey, you never know!’ “

Reparation is help or payment that someone gives you for damage, loss, or suffering that they have caused you. (From Collins Dictionary). In Evanston,IL they passed a reparations bill where in order to collect you have to prove that your ancestor that lived in Evanston was a slave in order to collect I think it was $25,000.

How many white people in San Francisco were slave owners in San Francisco? Probably most white ppl came to the USA after 1865. Probably every one of the black people has white slave owner blood in him. And remember that San Francisco didn’t become a major U.S. city until the gold rush in 1848…17 years before slavery was abolished. And that California was officially a free state. The whole thing is ridiculous any way you look at it
