Earlier this week, Matzav.com reported the passing of Rav Yosef Meir Hakohen Kantor zt”l, former mashgiach of Bais Medresh Elyon and rov of Monsey’s Agudas Yisroel shul for 41 years. He was 82 years old.
The Amud Yomi maggid shiur of Reb Meir Apfelbaum’s Torah Tapes, his recordings are listened to by hundreds, including maggidei shiur in leading yeshivos around the world.
The levayah took place Sunday night with a drive-by at Bais Medrosh Elyon in Monsey and kevura was held at the bais hachaim in New Square.
A person who was larger than life in his sterling character traits, Rav Yaakov Kamenetzky referred to Rav Kantor as “a kleiner Chofetz Chaim.”
The shivah begins tonight, Motzoei Yom Tov, and will end Wednesday morning.
