The Rebbe of Slonim penned a letter to rabbonim and admorim, expressing his pain at what happens on Har Meron on Lag Ba’omer.
The rebbe writes, “Here a year has passed since the terrible disaster that took place in Meron on Lag Ba’omer, which shocked every Jewish heart and soul…
“And here, the government has set up a commission of inquiry to investigate the causes of the great disaster, but this is a government that rebels against the Torah and its Giver…and will surely only look for how to uproot the sanctity of the place…
“A few days after the disaster, the sages and elders of Tzefas gathered and determined that the cause of the disaster was a taaruvos (mixture) of men and women, and declared a ban for five years of Lag Ba’omer on which women would not go up to Meron…
“Even today, askanim testify that the state of the taaruvos in Meron is terrible and awful, and this is clearly seen in aerial photographs. Meanwhile, everyone goes, and each community only cares for a comfortable and spacious place and tickets…and there is no one to take care of the sanctity of the place, and the mehadrin way does not solve the problem, because the whole mountain is crowded with men and women.”

Will that be followed by a ban of five years during which men cannot go up to Meron?
Before anyone gives their ‘opinion’ on what the Rebbe is saying, a warning: be careful. Gedolim care about Klal Yisrael’s welfare more than you and I. And if this is what they feel is better for us, then we should be silent and accept.
all social media outlets, all of which have given a voice to people who, not too long ago, knew to keep quiet when the adults are talking.
right, lets just all be ostriches and keep our heads in the sand
Ban women from going? Why not just lock them up in the house with a chain and never let them out??? Why don’t we just ban women altogether. WHere does this craziness stop?????
Well, yes. They should be at home taking care of their family and being available for her husband.
Right. First ban them from going to a crowded mountain-top filled with praying men. Then, the next logical step, is to ban them from going anywhere but home. Of course. Once they ban women from a mountain-top full of praying men, you obviously wouldn’t allow them to, say, go shopping.
that the cause of the disaster was a taaruvos (mixture) of men and women This leads to marriages.
Not having תערובת of men & women causes disaster A.K.A. שידוך Crisis
And what about Pesach program’s? You can’t wear the same outfit twice. What about Orlando?
““A few days after the disaster, the sages and elders of Tzefas gathered and determined that the cause of the disaster was a taaruvos (mixture) of men and women, and declared a ban for five years of Lag Ba’omer on which women would not go up to Meron…”
To clarify, that was done after a few people were killed there around 110 years ago in a different disaster.
The article only has part of the letter. Having read the letter I can testify that the Rebbe specifically refers to that story and writes what the Torah tells us, “zekanechacha veyomre loch”. So when a similar story happens on the same day and same place, he says we have to hear what the elders said the. That is what the Torah tells us to do.
Let’s follow Kelm. In Kelm (which was headed by the great talmid of Rav Yisroel Salnater, the Alter fun Kelm Zatza”l) men and woman were not allowed to walk on the same side of the street.
Yeshaya the craziness tops when youre makebl to stop looking at indecent things online. Deal?
So ban the men.
It’s not about who they ban. The implication itself is horrid.
