Mayor Bill de Blasio plans to run for governor of New York in 2022, two sources with knowledge of the matter told The Post on Monday.
The sources said it was unclear when the mayor, who is winding down his last two months as leader of the Big Apple, would make an announcement.
Speculation over a potential de Blasio gubernatorial bid ramped up last week after Politico New York reported that he had finalized forms for the creation of a candidate committee with the state Board of Elections.

I knew he was considering running for governor when he said that he won’t flood Boro Park with vaccine inspectors like he did during the red zones.
I know that he is even more serious now because a full YEAR ago when the inspectors were ticketing left and right in the Jewish parts of the red zones including CLOSED yeshivos and businesses I emailed a protest.
I didn’t hear back from them as was sure I never would. Yesterday I suddenly got this whole flowery email thanking me for bringing it to their attention (with no explicit acknowledgment of wrongdoing of course ) along with a whole pshetel about how De Blasio loves hearing from citizens and working with them and how he is making great effort and offering wonderful resource to combat Corona and to make the city a better place blah, blah, blah
This has to be some cruel joke. The only thing that could be worse is calling on Al Sharpton, or maybe not.
