“THE BEST BOSS I EVER HAD”: Britain’s Leadership Contender Remembers Jewish Boss

Liz Truss, leading contender for leadership of Britain’s Conservative party and Prime Minister, spoke of her support for Jews and Israel and reminisced about her one-time religious Jewish boss.

She told the Jewish Chronicle that after leaving Oxford University, she worked at the Shell company division that dealt liquid natural gas and her boss and mentor was an Orthodox Jew.

“He was the best boss I ever had and a very big influence on me,” recalled. “I remember that at work it was great during the winter because he would leave early for Shabbos every Friday. In the summer he was there until much later. That was one of my first experiences seeing how Jewish life could be incorporated into corporate life and it really impressed me how proud he was of his religion.”
