It is with great sadness that we report the passing of the Ziditchover Rebbe, Rav Alter Kahane zt”l, in Yerushalayim. The Rebbe was born in Hungary 78 years ago and eventually moved, with his parents, to Eretz Yisroel. During his lifetime, the Rebbe, who was known for his tzidkus and yedios haTorah, headed the Ahavas Shalom yeshiva for mekubalim, in addition to serving as rosh kollel of Kollel Shomre Hachomos in Yerushalayim.
The Rebbe’s health had taken a drastic turn for the worse over the last few weeks as doctors treated him at Shaarei Tzedek Medical Center in Yerushalayim. This afternoon, the Rebbe passed away with his family members at his side.
His levaya will be held tonight, at 9:15 p.m., at his bais medrash on Rechov Tachkemoni in Yerushalayim. The kevurah will take place on Har Hazeisim.
