Tolls are expected to go up by $1 on Port Authority bridges and tunnels between New York and New Jersey next year, ABC reports. The agency says it lost $3 billion during the pandemic, and that the high rate of inflation, as reflected in the U.S. Consumer Price Index, has triggered the increase.

Off-peak E-ZPass tolls would rise from $11.75 to $12.75 for passenger vehicles. The peak-hour E-ZPass toll would climb from $13.75 to $14.75. And cash tolls will go from $16 to $17.

  1. So the taxpayers are the true suckers in all of this. They never have a say or the ability to push back. This is corrupt government at its worst.
You can forget about us Brooklynites shlepping to your wedding in Lakewood so that YOU can save 4cents on a takana hall. We are not going to pay $30-40 for tolls (besides for gift, gas and babysitting etc…) to shlep to Lakewood on a work night. Ain’t going to happen. If the kallas lives in Brooklyn, YOU MAKE THE WEDDING IN BROOKLYN.

  2. “The agency says it lost $3 billion during the pandemic…”

Those bridges and tunnels are long since paid for. Therefore they did not have a deficit of three billion dollars, but rather there was a decrease of 3 billion dollars of extra revenue.

It’s amazing to think how much money those tolls generate.

  3. That’s because more and more yidden are moving to Lakewood. They want to show them it doesn’t pay.

  4. Chava Miriam: You wrote “kallas lives in Brooklyn, YOU MAKE THE WEDDING IN BROOKLYN.”. Sorry but jus like i dont know your bank account, you dont know mine. If i can save 2 to 3 thousand dollars by going to Lakewood, I will go. We will miss you at the chasunah.
