An 84-year-old man was killed in a tragic accident in Efrat on Sunday after falling from the balcony of his home as he was preparing to build a sukkah ahead of Sukkos.
The fatal fall occurred at the man’s residence on Matityahu Street in Efrat’s Etzion Junction neighborhood. Emergency personnel who arrived at the scene were unable to save him and pronounced him dead.
Following the tragedy, emergency volunteers worked to ensure that the deceased was treated with proper dignity while also collecting necessary evidence from the scene. His body was subsequently released for burial that same day.
ZAKA volunteers described the difficult scene and the circumstances surrounding the man’s death.
“This was a painful incident. The deceased fell from a height while coming to build a sukkah on his home’s balcony. MDA crews had to declare him dead at the scene. Together with additional volunteers, we operated at the scene to respectfully remove the deceased and to collect evidence.”
