Former President Donald Trump expressed his displeasure with his former press secretary, Kayleigh McEnany, on Truth Social, criticizing her for sharing what he deemed as inaccurate poll numbers.

In a post on the platform on Tuesday night, Trump vented, “Kayleigh ‘Milktoast’ McEnany just disseminated incorrect poll numbers on FoxNews. I am leading DeSanctimonious by 34 points, not 25 points.”

Trump employed his nickname for Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who is widely seen as his primary competitor for the Republican presidential nomination.

“While 25 points is commendable, it falls short of 34 points,” he added. “She knew the number had been revised upwards by the polling group. The RINOS [Republicans In Name Only] & Globalists can have her. FoxNews should only feature genuine stars!”

McEnany, who now co-hosts Fox News’ “Outnumbered,” informed host Jesse Waters on Tuesday night that polling in Iowa indicated DeSantis was “closing the gap” with Trump among voters after DeSantis entered the 2024 race for the GOP nomination last week.

The specific poll to which Trump and McEnany were referring was not immediately clear. The Daily Caller reported that a poll conducted from April 27 to 30 by Trump’s pollster revealed that Trump was leading DeSantis by 54% to 20% among Iowa voters. Additionally, an April Victory Insights poll also showed Trump ahead of DeSantis, 54% to 24%.

DeSantis commenced a four-day tour of Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina on Tuesday, rallying his supporters in Des Moines. According to The Hill, Trump is also scheduled to visit Iowa this week.

It seems that “Milktoast” is a misspelling of “milquetoast,” which refers to a timid or weak person. McEnany demonstrated her assertiveness during her tenure as Trump’s press secretary, so it is unclear why he used this term to describe her.

Later on Tuesday night, during an appearance on Fox’s “The Ingraham Angle,” Representative Chip Roy from Texas seemingly alluded to Trump’s criticism.

As a guest host filling in for Laura Ingraham, McEnany questioned Roy about his opposition to the debt ceiling deal and challenged him to propose a “realistic alternative.”

Roy responded, “Everything we’re witnessing from this weekend’s deal is quite milquetoast, if you understand the meaning of that word.”

  1. Trump Blasts Former Press Secretary, “Kayleigh ‘Milktoast’ McEnany,” on Poll Numbers
In response to Mr. Trump’s ‘Milktoast’ tweet, the Potomac Chocolate company, makers of the Potomac Toasted Milk Chocolate bar, announced via Twitter that the company is suing the former President ‘for every thing he’s got!”
“We take pride in our Toasted Milk Chocolate bar,” the company tweeted out, “and we’re not gonna just sit back and let Trump slander the beautiful taste of milktoast or toasted milk.”
The company went on to tweet: “That’s all we need now is a January 6 style protest outside our headquarters. Sheesh! Where’s the National Guard when you need them?!”
The Company also sent out a tweet to Twitter CEO, Elon Musk, asking him to ban “the toasted chocolate milk hater” from Twitter for life!

  2. Talk about going after anything that walks. This man feels his election hangs on any little thing the world says.

    Just say cold blood.

  3. Fox has gone sour, the hosts are beholden to their Murdoch & Ryan bosses and they’re losing viewers. Just don’t respond, Mr. President, we know you & millions have been hurt by the fascizt Dems and media and backstabbers. Hold your fire, yoh’ll be ok.

  4. The former President should not be disparaging a decent woman in such a fashion. It shows a lack of respect and dignity. Do we really want such a boor in the white house? I think not.

  5. This is the first time the yellow man has upset me. He is going after someone who stood with him and defended him daily from the fake news. He has no loyalty.

    • You realize it’s fake news and you still believe it. Don’t you know that Trump’s misspellings are intentional and hinting at something if he doesn’t fix it?

  6. I’m so sick of this duplicitous and manipulative media technique:
They write a headline that sets the tone and impression of the story. Then regardless of the actual content, the reader subtly views everything through that distorted lens.

In this case, the headline says “Trump Blasts Former Press Secretary”. Thus you get commentators, as above, saying things like “Acting like a big baby”, “It shows a lack of … dignity”, “first time the yellow man has upset me”.

    When in reality:
Firstly, there was no “blasting”, it was instead a very reserved and equanimous criticism. Read it again: “McEnany just disseminated incorrect poll numbers on FoxNews”.
Secondly, it is more a criticism of Fox, and the fact that they pressure and coerce their journalists to toe their line, rather than a direct hit on McEnany.

(Though I agree, it would be better without the namecalling.)
