Former President Donald Trump secured a victory  today, adding to his triumphs earlier in Michigan and Missouri.

Trump’s successive wins propel him closer to clinching the 2024 GOP nomination, despite the persistent presence of his sole remaining contender, Nikki Haley, who has pledged to persist at least until the upcoming 15 Super Tuesday contests.

Trump has consistently triumphed over Haley in every primary and caucus thus far, with Haley failing to narrow the margin significantly. Following his victories, Trump took aim at his likely opponent in the general election, President Joe Biden, during a rally in Richmond, Virginia.

In Michigan, Trump secured all 39 delegates at the state’s Republican Party caucus convention in Grand Rapids.

Trump’s dominance over Haley was evident across all 13 congressional district caucuses, where he garnered over 90% of the vote in each contest, even securing three districts unanimously, as reported by the Detroit News.

The caucus in Michigan followed the state’s primary on Tuesday, which Trump won convincingly with 68% of the vote. This caucus aimed to determine the allocation of 39 out of the state’s 55 delegates for the Republican National Convention this summer.

Due to RNC regulations prohibiting additional contests in February, the Michigan GOP opted for a dual-event approach, conducting an initial primary followed by a caucus for declared party members.

Amid internal strife within the Michigan Republican Party, Saturday’s caucus convention in Grand Rapids, led by former congressman Pete Hoekstra, clashed with a rival convention planned for Detroit, which was canceled following a court ruling affirming a leadership change.

In Missouri, Trump emerged victorious in the caucus, determining the allocation of 51 out of the state’s 54 delegates.

All 924 caucus precincts overwhelmingly favored Trump, securing him 51 of Missouri’s 54 convention delegates, while three at-large delegates retain flexibility under party regulations.

Haley’s campaign unveiled her Missouri leadership team, emphasizing a choice between her vision of conservative leadership and what she perceives as the alternative represented by the current trajectory of the Republican Party.

Missouri’s caucus includes participation from all registered voters, potentially including Democrats and independents, constituencies crucial for Haley’s strategy.

In Idaho, Trump commanded overwhelming support from registered Republican voters across over 210 caucus locations, securing all 32 delegates after garnering 84.3% of the vote.

Haley’s share amounted to only 13.8%, with a minor portion going to former contender Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. Idaho’s winner-take-all system awarded all 32 delegates to Trump due to his majority vote.

With only two Republican contests remaining before Super Tuesday, where 865 delegates will be contested across 15 contests, Haley remains in the race, eyeing a competitive showing but withholding specifics on her withdrawal plans.
