Former President Donald Trump tried to call a witness set to appear before the House Jan. 6 Committee, Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) said in a statement right at the end of today’s hearing.

Trump allegedly called the witness, whose identity has not been revealed, following the committee’s last hearing on June 28, said Cheney, who serves as the committee’s vice chair. The witness didn’t answer Trump’s call, instead referring it to their lawyer, who referred it to the committee. The incident has been referred to the Department of Justice, Cheney added. She said the witness has not yet appeared publicly in hearings.

“We will take any effort to influence witness testimony very seriously,” Cheney said.

The revelation came at the end of a nearly three-hour hearing.

  1. Why publish the lies of the corrupt Leftist biased corrupters and robbers of the last presidential election? They have no credence and false defamation of Trump should be totally ignored.

  2. Trump seems determined to be a guest of the taxpayers. If it can’t be in the White House then it will be in the Big House.

  3. I don’t put witness tampering above Trump (or the J6 committee either ) but what is the basis for the accusation? That he tried to call someone who he presumably knew in the past? (otherwise they wouldn’t be a witness)

What evidence is there that he tried to get the witness to lie, alter or destroy evidence, or not testify or cooperate with authorities at all? I don’t know about the federal government but in some states you need an explicit threat to be guilty of witness tampering

    • I don’t know about an investigation like this one but if someone is a defendant in a criminal trial they are generally not allowed to contact the witnesses. It isn’t witness tampering to do so if there are no actual efforts to influence the witnesses testimony but it is still unallowed and a very bad idea for a defendant to do so.

Like always ask a Rav or l’havdil a lawyer (or doctor or etc.) before acting on what you see online

  4. The sham hearings are not a court proceeding. The purpose is merely to once again try futilely (with as many lies as needed) to blame President Trump. But that’s besides the point, which is that this is not a court case. They certainly aren’t allowing the “de facto defendant to defend himself.

So, why on Earth would he not be allowed to call anybody he wants?

  5. Looks like they aren’t sure they J6 committee accusations are going to stick so they need to make new ones.

Last week it was that he had the IRS investigate political enemies. This week that he unsuccessfully tried to make a phone call to a witness. Next week they will come up with something else
