US Cranks Up North Korean Sanctions

The Treasury Department on Tuesday ratcheted up the pressure on North Korea by putting sanctions on banks and individuals tied to the isolated nation in its effort to cut off financial support for Pyongyang’s nuclear and missile programs.

The measure targets eight North Korean banks and 26 people “linked to North Korean financial networks,” the Treasury said. The individuals — North Korean nationals — represent the country’s banks and work in China, Russia, Libya and the United Arab Emirates, the department said. Read more at NBC.
